Fifth Year Tour to Rome
Our Fifth Year students enjoyed an unforgettable journey to Rome, packed with history, culture, and shared experiences that brought learning far beyond the classroom.
The tour began in Vatican City, where students took in the magnificence of St. Peter’s Square and explored the extraordinary collections of the Vatican Museums. Standing beneath Michelangelo’s ceiling in the Sistine Chapel was a powerful and memorable highlight for many.
Day two began with a visit to the iconic Colosseum, a spectacular introduction to the grandeur of ancient Rome. Students were then honoured to attend a special lunch reception hosted by the Irish Ambassador to the Holy See, gaining a fascinating insight into the work of Ireland’s diplomatic service. The afternoon was spent discovering Rome’s famous landmarks, including Piazza Navona, the Spanish Steps, Castel Sant’Angelo, the Roman Forum, Palatine Hill, and the Pantheon.
Even the rain couldn’t dampen spirits on day three as the group travelled back in time while exploring the remarkable ruins of Pompeii. It was wonderful to see our students so engaged, curious, and respectful throughout the visit.
Under golden sunshine on the final day, they explored Castel Sant’Angelo, walking its ancient corridors and enjoying breathtaking views across the Tiber and the Roman skyline. It was a fitting and beautiful farewell to a city that truly captured their hearts.
We are incredibly proud of our students for the way they represented our school and grateful to the teachers who accompanied them.
Arrivederci Roma – until next time.
