Lights, Camera, Action . .

Mr Murphy’s First Year English students brought their scripts to life by creating their own short films as part of their introduction to film studies. Beginning with the drafting and writing of original screenplays, students developed ideas, characters, and dialogue before moving into the practical stages of film production. Throughout the project, students explored how key filmmaking techniques such as camera angles, shot composition, sound effects, music, lighting, and costume can be used to enhance storytelling and convey meaning on screen. Working collaboratively, students took on a variety of roles including actors, directors, camera operators, and editors, gaining valuable insight into the creative process behind filmmaking. The project encouraged creativity, teamwork, and critical thinking, while also helping students develop a deeper understanding of how visual texts are constructed and interpreted.
