Maths Week 2025

Maths Week was celebrated in full spirit at St. Aloysius’ College, with a fantastic range of fun and engaging activities taking place throughout the week. The school was buzzing with excitement as students and staff took part in daily challenges, competitions, and creative maths-themed events.

Each morning, a Maths Puzzle of the Day was announced over the intercom. Once the puzzle was revealed, students had just a few minutes to work together in pairs or groups on their classroom whiteboards to find the solution. The first class to submit the correct answer each day won a prize, a great incentive that brought out everyone’s competitive side!

Our Maths Notice Board also received a special makeover for the week, featuring a Maths Hero Spotlight dedicated to famous female mathematicians, celebrating their contributions and promoting the importance of women in STEM.

On Tuesday, our Maths Week House Event took centre stage. Students collaborated to solve puzzles and brain teasers, earning valuable points for their House teams. Congratulations to the Orange House, who came out on top after an exciting and closely contested event!

The creativity continued with our Maths Poster Competition – “Maths Eyes”, encouraging students to look for maths in the world around them. Prizes were awarded to one student in each junior year group for their fantastic and imaginative entries.

It wasn’t just the students getting involved, teachers took part in a fun Dingbats Competition each day, adding to the sense of community that defined the week.

Throughout Maths Week, classrooms were a hive of activity, filled with problem-solving, quizzes, Kahoots, and plenty of laughter and learning.
