A Visit to Macroom Buffalo Farm!
Our Senior Cycle Home Economics students enjoyed a fantastic educational visit to the famous Macroom Buffalo Farm last week!
During their visit, students learned all about the care and management of the water buffalo, as well as the fascinating process involved in producing the farm’s delicious range of cheeses. It was a wonderful opportunity to see how classroom learning connects with real-life food production, animal welfare and sustainable farming practices.
A very special highlight of the day was when our fifth-year student, Daniella, was given the honour of naming the farm’s newest baby buffalo Bonnie! What a lovely memory to take away from such an enjoyable and informative trip.
A huge thank you to everyone at Macroom Buffalo Farm for their warm welcome and for sharing their knowledge and expertise with our students.
