Champion School of Sanctuary

We are absolutely delighted to share some incredible news for our school community!

St. Aloysius’ College has officially been recognised as a Champion School of Sanctuary and we are especially proud to be the first Le Chéile school in Munster to receive this honour. This is a truly historic and meaningful achievement for St. Al’s.

A School of Sanctuary represents far more than a title. It reflects a living, breathing commitment to being a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all, particularly for migrants, refugees, LGBTQI+ students, neurodivergent students, and those from minority backgrounds. This recognition affirms what we strive for every day, that every student feels seen, valued, and supported.

This achievement would not have been possible without the extraordinary efforts of our students. Their passion, leadership, and dedication have created something genuinely special. The judging panel of five members were deeply impressed by every aspect of their visit, from the professionalism of Mellina and Sadhana’s presentation, to the knowledge and confidence of tour guides Martha and Kathy, and the energy and cultural pride shown by our Indian and African students through their performances.

They also highlighted the warmth and friendliness of students throughout the school, the kindness and support of staff, and the unmistakable atmosphere of welcome, respect, and connection that defines St. Al’s.

This recognition belongs to our entire school community. It is a celebration of who we are and what we stand for, and a powerful reminder that together, we are building a school where everyone belongs.
