Le Chéile Day at St. Aloysius’ College
Our school community came together to celebrate Le Chéile Day yesterday, a special occasion that highlights the values of community, faith, and care that are at the heart of life in St. Aloysius’ College.
The celebrations began with a warm treat for our First Year students, who enjoyed hot chocolate at Breakfast Club, a small gesture that reflected the welcoming and supportive spirit of our school community.
As part of the day’s events, our Sixth Year students had the opportunity to hear from David Hoey of Cork Street Pastors, who spoke about the important work carried out on the streets of Cork. His talk highlighted how Street Pastors support vulnerable people and young people on nights out, offering a listening ear, practical help, and a safe presence for those who may need support.
Across the school, many Religious Education classes took time to explore the mission and values of the Le Chéile Schools Trust, learning more about the traditions and ethos that guide our school and the wider Le Chéile network.
We were also delighted to welcome Fr. Winkle, who met with our First Year students to speak about the season of Lent. He encouraged students to reflect on the meaning of this important time in the Church’s calendar and to consider engaging with parish activities in the weeks leading up to Holy Week.
Le Chéile Day was a wonderful opportunity for our students to reflect on the importance of community, compassion, and faith in action. It reminded us all of the values that unite our school and inspire us to care for one another and for the wider community.
We thank everyone who helped make the day such a meaningful and memorable celebration. Special thank you to Ms. O’Leary and Ms. McCarthy.
