Seachtain na Gaeilge i gColáiste Naomh Alabhaois
Ar an Luan, it was clear to everyone that Seachtain na Gaeilge had arrived - the decorations, posters and bunting around the school would certainly catch the súil of gach duine! Seachtain na Gaeilge was launched on the intercom by the príomoide with the first seanfhocal an lae. There were also green, white and gold treats in the seomra fóirne. At lunchtime, the firs Caife, Cáca, Comhrá & Canadh sa Chlochar - all members of staff were welcome to go to the convent and sing a few songs as Gaeilge for the nuns to enjoy! The 3rd Years enjoyed their céilís on Monday afternoon, the year group was split in two groups given the numbers in the year.
Ar an Máirt, the week continued with more activities. The First Year Social Club enjoyed a Seachtain na Gaeilge themed quiz ag am lóin, while the traditional group were also practicing in at lunchtime in preparation of Lunchtime Live ar an Aoine. After big break the First and Second Years enjoyed their céilís in the halla. The Dreoilín, Fallaí Luimní, quiz questions and Amhrán na bhFiann were enjoyed by all.
Ar an gCéadaoin, the tráth na gceist ar an idirchum was a fantastic whole school activity for Seachtain na Gaeilge. Ar an Déardaoin, the Comórtas Bácála at lunchtime went down a treat! The 5th Years enjoyed their céilí after big break.
Ar an Aoine, bhí lá gnóthach againn! The last day of Seachtain na Gaeilge in the school was jam packed - the 6th Years and Transition Years had spraoi agus craic at their céilís, and Lunchtime Live was a fabulous showcase of the talent across the school community. Bhí an halla plódaithe le daoine - and between the traditional group, singers, dancers and everyone helping out, we know that the future of Gaeilge and cultúr Gaelach is very safe here in Coláiste Naomh Alabhaois! Táimid ag tnúth leis an mbliain seo chugainn cheana féin!
